- Welcome to Sutherland Downs Thoroughbreds. We are conveniently located within close proximity to several country and city race tracks - approx. half hour from Geelong and Werribee, approx. 40 minutes from Balarat and 1 hour from Melbourne. Situated on 110 acres, our facilities include 1400m sand track with starting gates, tie ups, 2 rehabilitation boxes, spacious 1/2 acre individual yards with shelters, day Grazing paddocks, and spelling paddocks ranging from 2 acres - 30 acres giving your horse both a physical and mental break. Whether your horse is here for a short period or you opt for our pre-training services, rest assured that your horse will be given the best possible care.
SERVICES
Agistment
We offer a variety of agistment options to suit your needs. These include individual yards with shelters spanning 1/2 acre, as well as paddocks ranging from 2-3 acres with shelters. Our onsite owner ensures that horses are properly cared for, including regular checks at least twice daily and providing appropriate rugs and derugs as needed. Additionally, for longer breaks between racing campaigns, we provide larger shared paddocks ranging from 7 to 30 acres, offering both physical and mental respite for your horse.
Pre-Training
Our Pre-training service is specifically designed to enhance the foundational fitness of your horse in preparation for their upcoming racing campaign. Horses are worked at home on our 1400m track, ensuring they build up the necessary stamina and strength. Additionally, if necessary, we have the option to take the horses to the Geelong race track for fast work.
